What Can We Learn from Professional Golfers?

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

Professional golfers are not only very talented, but they play smart, strategic golf. And it is the "smart, strategic..." that separates them from the good amateurs and the average club professional. They know how to stay in the moment and avoid distractions by being very focused when it comes to hitting that golf shot.

Yes, they practice for hours so that they can repeat that golf swing over and over again consistently; and they practice virtually every shot they will face when the tournament begins but all good golfers do that. But just as important as it is to making the shots, you have to know where to place those shots to get that right angle to the pin to get those extra birdies and eagles to get into the win column.

Golf is not an easy game at any level.

Golf Equipment: Gearing up Properly for Golf

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

Like any other sports, golf requires that you be geared up correctly to be able to properly play the game. This article will give you an idea of basic golf equipment one requires to be able to learn and play golf.

For starters, the basic golf equipment is a golf ball. Golf balls are dimpled tiny balls, use in to play golf. They are dimpled to reach farther length when driven by golf clubs.

Another important golf equipment is a golf club or golf driver. Golf drivers come in different varieties. This is because a golf course has different landscapes and different golf clubs are required to make the proper drive. Depending on the landscape, either sand, grass or cement, a golf club is essential to make the perfect drive. Professional golfers usually have a bag or two of golf clubs to cater to their golf needs. Most golf stores and sports equipment store sell golf clubs. Some golf clubs are sold in sets while other are sold individually.

A Golf Training Aid – Work and then Pay

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

“If you are interested in improving your game, I would highly recommend helping your head as much as you are helping your swing...”

The above was a quote from Rob Mangini, former assistant men’s golf coach at Arizona State University in the book "The Mental Keys to Improving Your Golf". In other words, understand and know what works then concentrate on doing the work.

Unfortunately, when it comes to golf usually us regular, recreational golfers don’t think beyond “gripping it and ripping it”. We don’t really want to put in the time. We just want to hit that sucker. Forget the golf training aid.

And yet in all my years of golfing, I haven’t met a golfer yet that doesn’t want to improve his or her golf game.

Getting better is not going to just happen, especially if you want to be consistent. It requires giving some serious attention to the four fundamentals of golf - mechanical, strategic, physical and mental. Now isn’t that interesting. How many of the (4) do you as a golfer have a handle on? I would bet that most average golfers don’t even think of (3) of the (4) and, to be honest, their mechanics probably aren’t necessarily “all that”.

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

The best golf tips that you will ever find is over the Internet if you cannot afford your own personal trainer, but another way of obtaining the best golf tips ever, is by just straggling along with a group of professional golfers, and listen to what their caddy has to say what the golfer needs to do. It may look like that the caddy can not drive a ball at all, but he is sure to have all the internal information about how to win the game.

He would know the best of the best golf tips to hand out, and to whom when necessary. This is part of their job when they are just carrying their boss’s golf caddy with them. The caddy boy is the man to know for everything there is to learn, besides the practical side of golfing.

The Principles of golf

What principles do I mean? Well these principles include a variety of areas, such as mental attitude, swing, and determination. Next, how much you are willing to practice? How To Cure A Nasty Golf Hook

Sunday, January 3rd, 2010

A golf hook can be compared to Pele's 'banana kick' in football. In the case of a right hander, when the golf ball strays severely, from the right to the left, it is referred to as a hook. Where left handers are concerned, the ball would sway from left to right. The golf hook is, more often than not, referred to as an error made by beginners. Of course, professional golfers may deliberately use this method to place the golf ball where required.

It is by doing a lot of practice that beginning golfers lose the golf hook. It is important to hold the club in a firm grip, and make sure the surface of the club does not end up pointing in the wrong direction as it strikes the ball. It is the lower hand (the right hand in case of right handers) that controls the basic power and direction of the stroke, and this needs to have a really firm grip on the club. The other hand provides support to this. At the same time, don't overdo the whole thing by holding the club in such a tight grip that the muscles on your entire arm are tensed, this will immediately affect your swing. Be comfortable and firm.

Golf – Mastering the Putting Game

Sunday, December 20th, 2009

Statistically the most influential and important part of the Golfers arsenal is his putter and the ability to make it work properly for him or her.

How many times have we seen major championships decided because certain players had problems with their short game?

Amateurs and Professional Golfers alike all suffer every now and then from the dreaded nerves brought by the inability to cope with successfully negotiating three-foot puts.

As I mentioned, punting is probably the greatest leveller in golf. Not everyone can smash a ball 3 - 400 yards down the fairway, not everybody can master the correct technique to dig themselves out of the rough on regular basis.
