Improving Your Golf Bunker Shot

Friday, February 19th, 2010

Golfing is one of those sports that everyone should get involved in. It is fun and it is not too strenuous. That makes it perfect for people of all ages from the very young to the very old. Not many other sports can boast the huge age range of people who play golf. If there is one thing they all have in common it is the want to improve their swing. Everyone wants to score that hole in one and they all want to improve their golf bunker shot too. It is only natural.

There are several ways that you can work to improve your bunker shots and most of them are pretty basic. You don't need to grow another arm or buy some super expensive club to help you out, it is all about technique and learning from those who have been there before you. I was not a natural golfer. It took me a long time to get where I am today. For example I was one of those people, like so many others, who was always slicing the ball. No matter how hard I tried I only seemed to be getting worse, it was terrible. I practiced and I practiced and still I couldn't seem to improve my swing. Then I got smart and asked someone for help and the funny thing is that the answers they gave me were easy and simple. In no time I has solved the problem and that was that. So I have to commend you for even getting to this article because not everyone is smart enough to be willing to look for help when they need it. Now that you are here you can learn something!

That’s Golf Think

Friday, December 4th, 2009

The face of golf is changing. Just look at the likes of Tiger Woods, Camilo Villegas, and many of the other younger chiseled golf-bodies today and you realize that golf fitness is becoming a major part of the game. If players want to compete at the highest levels they have to have a physical routine, watch what they consume, be properly prepared mentally and then develop and follow a defined golf strategy that keeps their focus on the business at hand.

The old days of "golf not being a sport" have changed dramatically. It may still not have physical contact like some other sports but you have to get very physical in order to drive that ball consistently 300 + yards, endure the mental pressure, and walk some of those fairways. And with many of the courses reaching 7200+ yards with plenty of undulation, the game is demanding more and more.

Golf Beginners – Here’s What You Need to Start Down the Road to Success!

Saturday, November 28th, 2009

Golf is the only sport that requires a mixture of the physical, the psychological and the practice of patience. The golf beginner has a tremendous amount of things to learn. He/she needs to understand some important basics in order to keep from participating in the high mortality rate of golf beginners.

Many books have been written on how to make the game of golf more understandable - more enjoyable for the beginner who has a high expectation level. So many newbies to the sport of golf make the same mistakes repeatedly. Then, they end up giving up before they reach the point of actually enjoying the sport and making meaningful progress.

While scores of tips could be offered for every new player, there really are just a few basic rules which you should follow in order to enjoy yourself and establish the right foundation. Your goal of becoming a better player each and every time you head for the golf course can be realized..

Most mistakes that beginner golf players make are strictly mental - pschological in nature. They start the game and then they quickly find themselves over their head. And, do you know where that luxuriously, expensive set of golf clubs ends up? Right, in the garage sale.

Practice A Little Perseverance

Like everything in life that is worthwhile, you must determine to hang tight, despite all the daunting obstacles that you will face starting out. Our age of instant gratification does not fit well with golf. The truth is that golf is not like many other sports or hobbies. Gratification will always come later, rather than sooner. You must understand that it takes quite a long time to become a skilled golfer and build up the necessary motor skills which lead to a great shot.

Hitting the ball, as simple as that sounds, is quite difficult when you are actually playing through a course. And most people start playing golf as adults.

This means that our basic youthful skills of learning are long gone. Our bodies and minds are not as amiable as they once were when we were kids. It's a disturbint face that young children learn the game much faster than adults. So, the only way to overcome these initial problems is simply to stick to it, no matter what.

Patience Is A Virtue

If patience has not been one of your greatest attributes, you are soon going to realize just how much of it you must learn to have. And, it is a learned skill.

Golf takes a few years before you will start making some serious headway. There are numerous aspects of the game which will take a long time to grasp. Without patience, frustration will set in and take over.

How Difficult Can It Be?

Golf is made up of many different challenges. For example, there is the long game which will require great timing and strength. Then, you have the short game, which will require very precise motor skills using your hands. You have putting, which demands aiming ability. Then, for every hole you play, you will face specific hazard zones that you need to avoid when hitting the ball.

In other words, while you can read and practice tip after tip, your greatest capacity to become a better golf player will depend on how much patience you have, and upon the will power to stay with the game

Please understand that moving along at at a slower pace will keep you involved and enjoying this wonderful game for years to come.

3 Ways To Learn The Game of Golf

Monday, November 9th, 2009

Golf is the greatest game on earth. It's both exhilirating and frustrating and it has an ancient history that most other sports cannot even pretend to match. But unlike many sports it's not the sort of game that you want to learn on your own. Yes, you can go out your first time and swing a club at a ball, and some people will master the game that way. But for the most part, it takes some kind of guidance from someone who already knows the game to get you on your feet.

With that in mind, there are three basic ways to learn the wonderful game of golf.

Hire a pro. If your budget allows it, you can hire a pro to teach you one-on-one just about everything you need to know. He or she can teach you the proper stance, grip, swing, and a myriad of other things that will get you on your way to playing solo. Hiring a pro isn't as hard as it sounds. Visit a golf course and just ask them if they have a pro who teaches. If they don't, ask the pro shop people if they can recommend someone. Chances are they can.

80% Of Amateur Golfers Get This Wrong!

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

What part of the body contributes the most to generating the maximum speed of the golf club head?

This single answer allowed me to make a huge leap in my understanding of the golf swing, and in everything I had seen and read about the golf swing none of it emphasised it enough.

I carried out a survey on the Internet over several weeks and asked visitors to my web site the question:- What part of the body contributes the most to generating the maximum speed of the club head?

Only 20% got the answer correct - That's only 1 in every 5 golfers! And these golfers had a wide range of handicaps down to single figures.

Beginning Golfer Shoots Lower Score

Saturday, October 3rd, 2009

Golf is a great way to enjoy time with your family and friends. Whether you play a leisure round of nine holes or are able to enjoy a full round of eighteen holes, the game of golf is rewarding on many levels. The best news is every beginning golfer can shoot a resonable score.

A beginner only needs a handful of items to get started. A few lofted golf clubs, say a nine and seven iron, and a putter. If you want, grab a metal wood, but no more than a five wood. Gather some golf balls, tees, a towel, and throw your stuff in a golf bag. You are ready to play some golf!

You are probably wondering about all the other clubs and why they were left out. They are for the golfer who is ready to mix playing golf with practicing golf. If it makes you feel less awkward, take the full set of clubs with you, just use the ones mentioned until you are comfortable with your golfing abilities. Let me explain myself.

Some Definite Must Haves For All Golfers

Monday, August 31st, 2009

Golfing is definitely the "it" activity when it comes to unwinding in style. From the crisp clear air, to the astounding company of co- golfers, it really spells luxurious serendipity without the hassles of daily life. Just like many other sports, golfing also has its share of pre requisites in order to be enjoyed thoroughly. As a unique kind of sport, you will have to possess such distinctive equipment and tools that are exclusively used for this sport alone. Here are five of the most indispensable items a true blue golfer must possess. Remember, you won't have a game if you don't have these.

The first thing a golfer must possess is a caddy bag full of the best clubs he or she can ever find. However, choosing the perfect clubs for your golfing needs isn't exactly what you'd call a walk in the park. It requires a certain level of expertise, which may come in handy when determining certain functions particular clubs must attend to in the game. As such, a golfer must know his or her personal style. This will give ample space for choosing the clubs which will most likely help the golfer achieve common lofting movements he or she loves top do with every swing. When it comes to golf clubs and caddy bags, it isn't exactly 'the more the merrier'. Less can actually prove to be the best, so give club panic buying a much-needed rest! Research and observation will certainly give you plus points in choosing your clubs.
