Choosing the best golf bag is a personal decision based on looks and detailing, but even more so it's a decision based on your own circumstances. There is a golf bag for everyone, but first decide on how you need it to perform for you. The bag is a means of holding and transporting your clubs; so how do you need it to function?
Listed here are the types of bags and what they're most often used for:
Carry Golf Bag
If you're walking, you'll want a lightweight bag with a wide padded strap. Try it on in the store with golf clubs in it to see if it feels properly centered and comfortable to you. The material should be light like nylon or canvas and should be just big enough to hold the clubs, balls, tees, and towel you'll need for play. The bag should also have it's own built-in kickstand so the bag doesn't have to be laid down. Check out the construction of the stand to make sure it's durable.

Travel Golf Bag
You can get travel bags in soft or hard sides. If you are flying with your bag, the hard sides may be the better option. Get one with built in wheels so you're not forced to schlep it across the airport parking lot. Also look for one that doesn't just zip shut, but has a locking mechanism to help ensure none of your clubs inadvertently fall out or get stolen.
