  • Golf Swing Tips – Can You Swing Too Hard?

    Golf swing tips all focus on better aligning your golfing technique in order to give you desirable results. However, most golf swing tips only allow give you techniques about how you should hold your golf club, the amount of grip to be used and your stance at the green. Yet what about actually swinging the golf club? Many people feel that the harder you swing the club, the further the ball will go. While this may be true to an extent, by hitting the ball as hard as you can, without thinking about technique or accuracy, your ball my travel far, however, it will most likely not follow the direction you were wanting it to go. There are several ways that you can discover if your golf swing is too swift, all of which are very simple to detect. The main way you’ll be able to take note if your swing is too quick, is whether or not your golf ball has a specific direction it is going in. Is your ball moving around sporadically? Or does your ball dart off to your left or right? Both of these are signs that you are hitting the ball too hard and without any sense of control or direction. Other ways you can discover if you’re hitting the ball too fast, is if you loose control of your club at the top of your backswing. Of course, the easiest way to realize if you are swinging too hard/fast, is if you loose your balance at the top of your swing. If your balance is lost during any part of your swing, you are not executing proper technique, and you golf game will suffer from this.

    Like most things in life, the first step to fixing a problem, is by recognizing it. Now that you have done so, comes the task of slowing your swing down to a powerful, yet controllable level. One of the easiest ways to correct over-swinging, is by doing a count while you’re swinging your club. Count in three beats, 1-2-3, by the third you should be at the top of your backswing. If you keep this tempo at a regular and steady pace, than your golf swing will improve dramatically, although, make sure that this tempo isn’t too fast. Allow your body to swing naturally, but with force. However, there are other golf swing tips that will help you slow down your swinging pace. The first, make sure not to concentrate too hard on delivering a hugely powerful and intense swing. By filling your mind with these types of thoughts, you will inevitably hit the ball with way too much force and ultimately you’ll loose the control that’s needed for a dynamic, and accurate, swing. If you were to think about the force you expel onto the golf club in percentages, 1% would be letting the club hit the ground and 100% would be way too forceful. The ideal energy output with your swing is around 80%, by keeping your energy exertion at this level, you will be allowing your body to stay in control of your movement, while still delivering a powerful blow to the golf ball.
