Getting The Most From Golf Lessons

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

It is never easy asking for help, but in golf, it is practically a must-do. Unfortunately, we often ask our friends and partners, when, in reality we should take a few lessons with a professional, usually called the Club Pro.

We may possibly think that a Pro would be too critical, but in fact, they are honest, positive and usually very helpful.

Lessons at the local golf course aren't as expensive as you might think and they are worth it because your game will improve more rapidly and cause you less frustration, making the game much more enjoyable for you.

Golf Swing Mistakes That Drain Your Golf Swing Power

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

Copyright © 2010 Scott Cole

There is an awful lot of literature in print and on the internet regarding the golf swing and what you need to do to improve your game. There is even a lot of information on golf fitness and how improving your fitness can improve your game and increase your length off the tee. Unfortunately, there is not much information out there that really teaches golfers what they need to do to correct their own swing.

What golfers need to realize is that there are a few swing mistakes that lead to a lack of power in the golf swing, and these mistakes are definitely correctable. Improving your fundamentals will help you hit the ball further. You can be able to bench press a house, but if you have one of these swing faults, you will never see much improvement in your swing speed.

Golf Tips – Accuracy First, Then Distance

Thursday, May 27th, 2010

Most beginners have one thing in mind, and that is to hit the ball as far as possible.
Many golfers never quite get out of this mindset and this is one of the reasons why they will never get the distance that they are capable of hitting the ball.

The wise golfer will practice for accuracy first and concentrate on the distance once they have mastered the art of control.

It's not much point hitting the big yards off the tee if the ball is going to end up on another fairway or in the rough.

A Putting Tip You May Not Have Heard Before

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

Here's a simple technique to improve your putting.

Before you can expect to putt well on greens with a slope, you need to learn to putt well on the flat.

This will train you to swing your putter through a straight line and hit the ball squarely on the face of the putter.

Now you need to get a putter that has a line on it that you can see clearly, as this will be the line that you will follow through to the center of the ball.

On the practice green (preferably one that you have at home, as this technique might not be appreciated) you will mark straight lines with a builders chalk line in several directions from the center of the hole spanning out around the green.

Golf: Shooting in the 70’s

Monday, May 24th, 2010

I remember when I first attempted to play a round of golf, how frustrating it was and how much I disliked it. The only reason for my ill feelings were because I was very bad at it. I could not understand that, because I was very good in all other sports, like football, basketball and baseball. Why was I so bad at golf? So I decided to actually practice this sport and before long, I was getting better. I learned quickly that becoming frustrated when I hit a bad shot was a very big nono. So I then read a book and put these suggestions to practice.

7 Golf tips on how to improve your next round of golf!

Friday, May 21st, 2010

Golf swing tips all focus on better aligning your golfing technique in order to give you desirable results. However, most golf swing tips only allow give you techniques about how you should hold your golf club, the amount of grip to be used and your stance at the green. Yet what about actually swinging the golf club? Many people feel that the harder you swing the club, the further the ball will go. While this may be true to an extent, by hitting the ball as hard as you can, without thinking about technique or accuracy, your ball my travel far, however, it will most likely not follow the direction you were wanting it to go. But why is this? The more uncontrolled force you use, you the more uncontrolled your golf ball will become. The idea of the perfect swing is to have force behind your swing while still maintaining complete control over your club and the golf ball.

Golf – A Golf Swing Tip

Saturday, May 15th, 2010

Well golfers, summer is on its way, and most weekend "golf" warriors are hitting the links. There are ways to enjoy this wonderful game, which entail golf strategies for recreation or progress. I myself have always struggled with wanting to pound out a 400 yard drive, being that I'm a big guy, but let's face it- Tiger Woods and the boys on the tour even hook or slice at times.

It all starts with timing. Good timing brings accuracy from the tee, and this is where one must begin to improve their golf swing. Shorten your back swing by stopping your shoulder turn when your arms start going back naturally. If you don't you will get in trouble at the top if you keep going. Stay parallel, and eliminate over turning by keeping your hands away from your head, as far as possible. When you keep your feet planted, you will also find that this holds your lower half and stops you from swaying.

Is Affordable Golf A Pipe Dream? Not With These 5 Tips

Friday, May 14th, 2010

Golf is a sport that was once reserved for the wealthy. Those days have changed and yet golf remains a bit of a burden for pursuit by those who have limited means. The challenge of making golf more affordable to those who may have been excluded in days long gone is not as difficult as one may think. Below you will find 5 ways that golf can be well within your means.

1) Buy light. You do not have to outfit yourself with top of the line equipment. Begin with a basic set of clubs and replace as your skills and your knowledge of your own game improves. The same holds true for other equipment such as balls, shoes, and clothing for the game. Do not make a serious investment in the equipment until you’ve invested in your skill.
