When you're learning about something new, it's easy to feel overwhelmed by the sheer amount of relevant information available. This informative article should help you focus on the central points.

Golf – Cure That Hook In One Day!

Friday, January 29th, 2010

For most golfers it is the golf slice that gives us the most headaches out on the golf course. But, for many others who hook the golf ball, the problem can be just as frustrating. So, how can you stop hooking the golf ball and begin hitting more fairways? It's easier than you might think and I'm going to show you how to get immediate results.

Stance - Position the ball in the middle or a little forward in your stance. For most golfers who hook the ball I see them position the ball too far back in their stance. You want to keep the ball in the middle or even with your left heel (if you're right-handed). Make sure you position your feet toward your target line. Both of the tips of your toes should be even, or a little to the left of the target line. This more open stance will help reduce the chances of hooking the golf ball. Don't position your left foot more forward in your stance than your right. Keep them even.

How You Can Cure Your Golf Slice

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

For most amateur golfers, the shot that causes them the most problems is the golf slice. In fact the problem is so common, whole books have been written about ways you can try to correct the fault.

The golf slice is where the ball moves and bends in the air from left-to right .This is caused by a combination of having an open clubface and an outside to inside swing path. The incorrect swing puts side spin on the ball, causing the ball to cut violently to the side. This leads to a loss of control of the shot, as well as sometimes a loss of control of your temper on the course, as you become frustrated at the inability to keep your shot straight.

So how can you fix it?

Do Not Stretch Just Before Your Golf Round

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Did you read that right?

Let me say it again: "Do not stretch just before each golf round!"

Flexibility is important in all phases of the golf swing. The different phases require various parts of your body, muscles, joints and ligaments including neck, wrists, shoulders, trunk, knees, hips and ankles. If one of these joints or structures is limited you may not notice.

Your body is very good at making adjustments in order to complete its task. However this can lead to various compensations and muscle imbalances which could present them selves as a slice, hook, or just a general bad shot. Therefore it is important to gain and maintain balanced flexibility throughout your joints to allow full range of motion of your swing.

Different Golf Balls and Basic Golfing Rules

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Having the right golf ball is important. There are two basic types of balls (spin and distance) and two basic ball coverings (balata and surlyn). This set of tips will explain them.

Spin

As its name dictates, a spin ball is designed to spin. These balls have 3 parts to them:

A central core (liquid, most of the time)
Rubber windings
A cover made of a thin, soft material called balata

Distance

A distance ball, made for longer shots, has a much harder core and a harder cover. The core is made of a firm synthetic material, and the cover is a hard durable material called surlyn. This combination allows the ball to travel greater distances.

Wrist Firm

This is one of the best golf teaching aids available for learning to keep your wrists firm during your golf swing. The Wrist Firm helps keep your lead wrist flat and firm during impact. It will also help keep your trailing wrist from breaking down, which can cause you to pop up the ball and rob you of any distance. Another benefit of this wonderful golf training aid is that it will help you keep your wrists firm while putting.

The Swing Jacket

This golf teaching tool is actually a swing jacket that you wear that will keep your arms locked with your body. The result of this action is that arms will swing with your body instead of separating and causing offline, and off center golf swings. The Swing Jacket will help you feel what a proper swing should be like. Using this golf training aid will give you increased power and accuracy.

These are just a few of the many different golf teaching aids available on the market today. Each one can easily help you improve your golf game by giving a more correct swing, along with more distance. Isn't that something that us weekend golfers are always looking for?
